Alleys or Laneways are something that I always took for granted. Growing up in Toronto we used them for short cuts or just to stay off the sidewalk and out of sight. Exploring the alleys always revealed some kind of secret. Kids would hide their contraband in alleys, like cigarettes or playboy magazines, dog walkers were free to let their dogs roam and poop, garages were hubs of social gatherings etc. It seems like Alleys are a thing of the past. Houses built today are really just attached to huge two or three car garages that open up from the inside to a house attached to it without an Alley in the back. Alleys were dirt or gravel but now I see that the alleys that still exist in some cities are paved or concrete. This is our Alley at the end of garbage day, I think I’ll have look around town and see what the other inner city alleys are up to.
Th landscape as it presented itself on todays drive home. Cows, Windmills and a plant flaring gas and seemingly making clouds. Must be Alberta.
