Got up early this sunday morning to put the fuji through some paces. It is almost 2 weeks old and if I plan to keep it I should test it before the return policy becomes invalid. I used the Velvia film simulation mode and I find it a bit too overpowering in colour saturation, but this may have something to do with the early morning rays as well. The dogs in the park were heavily post processed to give them a painterly look, the B&W is a converted colour shot, but the others are pretty much straight out of the camera with little post processing. The lens used was also being tested. It is a Fuji 16-55mm f2.8. A very nice piece of glass, that performs well. No question that shooting mirrorless will take some getting used to but I think I can make that adjustment in time. The camera is not second nature to me yet having been a rangefinder and DSLR shooter previously but I do like the feel of the camera in my hands and the controls seem to be intelligently laid out. At least they are if you come from 35mm SLR background, then it feels quite familiar. The verdict is not in just yet but I think I’ll hold onto this set up and try to utilize the $4000 investment and not think about what amazing destinations I could I have visited with this money, grow where you’re planted, right.
